We now have a new shopping cart.  The cart calculates shipping to you automatically using the items that you are buying to calculate a shipping price.  We have spent a lot of time testing the cart for shipping charges and it is accurate 98% of the time. If the system does not give you perfect results we will work with you to ensure you are not overcharged.

If you find that the shipping is more than you expected, put a note in the comment section of the payment section and we will recalculate the shipping by hand.  If we find that actual shipping is less, we will send you a revised bill.

If the shipping does not appear and an error or time out message appears instead of a shipping price, continue with the order by submitting without the shipping calculated.  We will calculate shipping by hand and send you a revised bill. 

Even though we have looked hard for the best shopping cart system that could integrate with our site and calculate shipping, no system is perfect.   If you would like to know more about our cart, here is a link.

Our hours of operation are:
Monday to Friday
9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Although our e-mail is always awake, we aren't. Please be aware of the local time in BC and call after 9:00 our time.

Product availability:
We try to have all of our products available at all times, but on occasion we may be out of stock of an item. We will never substitute any item for another. We will advise you of the time that it will take to have the item available again and let you decide what to do.

Taxes
We charge PST if you live in BC and GST if you live in Canada if you live in a province with HST we must charge HST instead of GST. If you are in BC and have a PST number, let us know at the time of ordering, and we will not charge you the PST.

BC residence with a PST Number:
Once you have used our shopping cart and sent us your PST number, we will add you to our database.  As long as you use the same e-mail address the cart will know not to charge you PST.

Orders are shipped via Canada Post. We send all of our packages expedited parcel within Canada, this option is usually less expensive than regular post and includes insurance. If you would like us to ship another way, please ask, we will be happy to send your items in anyway you would like. Be aware that you will pay for any costs incurred by your shipping method and if there is no way to insure your method of delivery, we will not be responsible for shipment, you will have to make arrangements with the company directly. We use recycled boxes and packaging whenever possible. We are willing to meet customers wanting to pick up lye or other items. Since our time is valuable, there may be a 'discretionary' nominal $5.00 fee for this service. Please be sure to call a few days ahead to arrange a time.

Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide:
We do not ship Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide.

Damage Claims:
If a package is damaged on arrival, please report to Canada Post and call or e-mail us immediately. Let the Canada Post driver or office know if damage is apparent at time of delivery and make sure the driver makes a note it on their copy of the paperwork.

Returns:
We will not be responsible for items returned without authorization. Items returned without authorization number will not be refunded.
We charge a 15% restocking fee for returned items
We do not accept returns of fragrance or essential oils after delivery has been accepted.

Minimums:
We do not have a minimum order and we do not charge a handling fee.

Payment Options:
We now accept Credit Cards! Our internet web page is secure but if you want to call in your credit card call us with your number. Once we send you your total, just give us a call. We can keep your number on file if you like, and after the first time you order you can just ask us to use your credit card number on file. We do not keep your credit card number without your permission. If you are in the US you will get the current exchange rate that your credit card account charges you.
You may pay by mail with a check or money order. Checks will be held until they clear. Please make checks and money orders to Essence.
For a $1.75 service charge (what our bank charges us) you may direct deposit to our account. Please call us for details.
NSF checks: Checks returned for non-sufficient funds will incur a $25 processing fee.
